Welcome to the 2012-2013 Chem II Blog

List or explain 3 things that make Kelloggsville different (in a positive way) than other schools?
In a perfect world what would you like to see different at KVille (no naming names, or being disrespectful)?

  1. 1. What makes Kelloggsville different than other schools is the fact that it is a friendly community due to the smaller size. In other words, Kelloggsville is more diverse and we are more accepting of others.
    2. Teachers make it a priority to help the students succeed and provide them with the necessary materials.
    3. Kelloggsville does everything in their power to give students information about colleges, scholarships, and financial aid. On top of that Kelloggsville is always looking out for the students by making them aware of any suspicious activity in the area/community. Kelloggsville takes the safety of their students very seriously. For example, if a gun shot is thought to be heard, the school quickly proceeds into a lockdown stage even if they are not sure what the sound really was.
In a perfect world there is only one thing I would like to see different at KVille, which is for KVille to provide more electives.

  2. One thing that makes Kelloggsville different than all of the other schools is the diversity. Having a large diversity will be beneficial for when the students go off to college and the real world. They'll be used to having classes with students of various races, unlike students from schools like Calvin Christian and other private schools, where they are mostly exposed to one race.
Another thing that makes this school different from other schools is the size. Kelloggsville is a smaller community and has smaller classes and buildings than most schools. By having a smaller community/student population, the classes are smaller and that provides students with being able to talk to the teachers individually and get help rather than not understanding anything. Also, by having a smaller community, when new students and foreign exchange students arrive, everyone is very welcoming to them.
Lastly, Kelloggsville is different from other schools by the fact that the teachers give out more hands-on work as opposed to just taking notes. The teachers and staff make it their number one priority to make students succeed and graduate, thus making them ready to attend college. A lot of the teachers and counselors go out of their way to help students help them understand the class work.
I would love for Kelloggsville to have more teachers that can teach various other electives, such as more language classes and forensics classes. Also we are in need of a larger school so there is actually enough room for all of the students to have lockers, and so we don't have to lose any classes to make room for the new students/freshmen.

  3. Kelloggsville is different in a positive way by the diversity, classes made to better students grades and relationships, and the clubs or programs offered. Out of all the schools in our district the schools with a wide range of ethnicities are us, Godwin, Lee and Roger. This diversity allows us to study and communicate with other nationalities. We can meet a lot of people due to this. Here at Kville we have a class called Rocket 30 where we can build relationships among each grade level. Also we have zero and 7th hour aimed to help you take subjects not offered by teachers. And last year we had e2020 which helped students bring up their grades. Lastly, we have clubs such as GSA, Leadership, and the Latino club to help our school grow and prosper.

Alright something I would change at Kelloggsville is the lunch schedule. So far this year we have about 250 freshman which makes getting lunch a hassle. The line stretches all the way to the bathroom and if I had to wait in line I wouldn't be such a happy camper. They should have underclassmen and upperclassmen separated at lunch.

  4. 1) Kelloggsville sets rules and sticks to them. Many other schools have dress codes but do not bust everyone that violates it. Our school, however, does. Whenever a rule is violated, staff makes sure the student is appropriately punished.
    2) Kelloggsville is very diverse and accepting. We do not judge others based on their race. We have students from all over the world (Mexico, Honduras, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, etc.)
    3) The staff is very dedicated to the students. It is amazing how hard the teachers work to make sure the students obtain the best education possible. We are given the opportunity to do better on tests or in certain classes with credit recovery. Also, we can get additional help on a certain subject with teachers before, during, or after school.

In the perfect world, I would have to agree with a comment mentioned above. A bigger school would definitely be more convenient. Classrooms get all stuffy with the 30+ kids inside. Most students, like me, would much rather prefer less than 25.

  5. Three things positive about Kville... We're a relatively small school, which makes it easier to have a "community" type of enviroment because you have the possibility to have every teacher at some point. Another is, despite our size, we have a lot of extra curiculars to participate in. And thirdly, we groups that help out and support causes. Then again, for a perfect Kville if the class sizes are going to get bigger, they should look into reorganizing the schedule to have multiple lunches. This would uncrowd the cafeteria and halls a lot.

  6. 1. Kelloggsville is different in a postive way by being a smaller school. In being a smaller school, we can get to know everybody and have a better community.
    2. Kelloggsville has the best teachers. They want what is best for you, and they try hard to make sure you get it. Plus, you can always talk to them if you need help.
    3. Kelloggsville has lots of opportunities. The biggest opportunity is the many different programs for school or after school use.
To make Kelloggsville better, they should have more classrooms with less students and another lunch period. That way, the lunch line is not as long and we can walk in the hallways without running into somebody.

  7. 1. Kelloggsville is more diverse than other schools.
    2. The teachers at Kelloggsville actually care about the education of the students.
    3. Kelloggsville sets its rules and doesn't waver from their true purpose: creating a safe environment for students to learn and achieve.

In my opinion, what would make Kelloggsville better is the date when school ends. Students are bitter about it because their friends of other schools get out earlier for the summer than they do.

  8. One thing that makes Kelloggsville different from other schools is the diversity that is welcomed here. I know that other schools that are also small don't have that and I think that is crucial for when we go to college and into the real world. Another thing that makes Kelloggsville different from others is the small tight community. In the school there is not to many students per class, yet there is some that are to big, but the teacher to student ratio really helps because you can always ask questions when necessary. One downfall to Kville is how many students there are in the freshman class this year. The lunch line is out to the hallway and there aren't enough lockers for the seniors which sucks. I think there should be a divided lunch since it seems necessary. Oh and more classes too :)

  9. 1. The diversity of our students.
    2. How well we know and get along with each other.
    3. All the fun extra things we have here like student CSAs and etc.
One thing I'd like to see is more of an effort to put PRIDE in
the school. I feel like we walk the walk but rarely ever talk the talk.

  10. 1. The different activities that the School has to offer, like rocket 30.
    2. The diversity of people here.
    3. The amount of P.R.I.D.E. that the upperclassmen have.
I'd like to see more involvement with the freshmen.

  11. 1. The close-knit community causes Kelloggsville to be a more friendly school than I would assume others are. For instance, in our school it isn't unusual for band kids to be friends with football players where that might be considered quite strange in a larger district. It also is possible, due to our size, for students to be able to both play football and be in band or cheerlead and be in band, and this is special as well.
    2. The commitment that our teachers have to us and their determination to make us successful I think is also a very wonderful and unique thing here.
    3. The various awards for success, from something as small as a Culver's certificate to something as large as an ipod, are unique to Kelloggsville too.
In a perfect world, I would like a greater expansion of classes, whether elective or not, like those offered at KC/TC.

  12. 1. Kelloggsville is a diverse school. The students here come from various different backgrounds, so the students here are exposed to different cultures. Exposure to different cultures and backgrounds help students be more accepting.
    2. Students here have more opportunities to try out more clubs and sports than other schools. Students are allowed to join multiple clubs and even participate in band/theatre while still in sports.
    3. The teachers all care about the students' education and truly want to help them.

In a perfect world, I would like to see all the students participate in school functions, events, and pep rallies.

  13. 1)Kelloggsville is a very diverse school compared to other schools. We have many different students of different ethnicities and different cultures. Most schools are made up of one or two races within their student body, whereas at Kelloggsville this is not the case.
2)Kelloggsville is a very small district, which makes for a small community. As a result of our small community, evereyone knows everyone and our community is very supportive and always willing to help.
3)Our new Rocket 30 program is very unique; I don't know of any other schools who have something like this. I think it really is a good thing and makes us that much better than other schools.

In a perfect world, I would like to see more people take pride in Kelloggsville, not just the Upperclassmen. I would like to see everyone get involved and be proud of Kelloggsville. I would also like to see more respect out of students toward their peers and toward their teachers.

  14. 1. Looking in the lunch area you see many flags which shows you Kelloggsville is a diverse school.
    2. kelloggsville being a small school allows for students to get the help of a teacher when needed.
    3. Kelloggsville allows students to take part in clubs or make one themselves with enough members also allows students to play sports without paying.

Taking pride that Kelloggsville is a school that gets high test scores and showing more school spirit overall

  15. 1. When we play sports, more often then not the other team is primarily white, while k-ville is diverse.
    2. Everyone is connected in some way, we all know each other because the community is so small.
    3. The prizes for perfect attendance, stuff like that.
Bigger class rooms, and hall ways. I don't like turning a corner and running into someone.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 1. Smaller Class [senior, junior, etc.] Sizes
    2. The students are able to join multiple sports because of the "seasons".
    3. The teachers are helpful in any way they can. They show that they care, while some teachers i've come across just walks in class, lectures and class ends.

In a perfect world, what I would like to see different at kVille...

1, More lunches because inferring from this year, there will be even more incoming freshmen.
    2. Bigger hallways because there are some people who likes to stand right in the middle and it is so hard to maneuver through .
    3. Smaller in classroom (Students to Teacher) sizes .

  17. 1.) Kelloggsville teachers (most of them) genuinely care about their students. Most teachers will help a struggling student as much as they need, even when it may not be the teacher's "responsibility".
2.) Kelloggsville is very diverse. Along with that, most students are very accepting of the different types of people that you come across on a daily basis. We don't really have any problems with bullying or discrimination.
3.) Our school is very community oriented. Most of the students' parents also attended Kelloggsville, thus resulting in a community that is involved in the school and the different activities we put on.

In a perfect world I would like to see the student body at KHS and KMS act more mature than they do. I would also like to see more enthusiasm from the students during activities such as spirit week and pep assemblies.

  18. Stephanie could not get her account to work, so here is her submission:)

1.) Kelloggsville is a very diverse school, which is nice when you get out into the real world and you have to interact with many different types of people.
2.) The staff at this school all do their best to make sure every student has a fair chance of becoming successful, and they are happy to make time to help students individually.
3.) There are many extracurricular activities available to students, so they have the option to be involved in more than just school work.

In a perfect world I would love to see the freshmen class put forth more effort toward their school work and less effort towards trying to be portrayed as 'cool'. Also, something with the lunch room situation would be done, because with the increase in the amount of students in the building the lunch room becomes quite hectic.
